WordPress SEO by YoastFortunately for WordPress users, there are lots of great SEO plugins. The problem is often that not one plugin can do it all, so you end up using several plugins. For example, you might have one plugin for optimizing your head titles and descriptions, another plugin to create an XML sitemap, and still another plugin for helping you optimize your content for SEO. In my quest for the right set of WordPress plugins to help me with my SEO, I tried many many plugins. it seemed like just as I thought I was done looking, I would find another plugin to help with another aspect of SEO I hadn’t thought about or I would find a plugin that promised to be better than one I already had. Still another problem is the plugins that promise something but can’t deliver. Well, to get to the point of  a long process, I found one plugin that has not disappointed, it even does more than I could expect and more than any other plugin in terms of SEO. The plugin is WordPress SEO by Yoast.

Free or premium WordPress pluginsOK, so here is the problem: you are looking for a WordPress plugin for a specific purpose but how do you compare free and premium plugins? If you look at most articles on WordPress plugins, they usually mention a list of all free plugins or all premium plugins. They rarely compare free and premium ones? The story gets worse, with free plugins you can often find reviews where someone has tried several of them and can speak with some experience and provide some valuable insight. With premium plugins, this does  not happen. Why not?

7 Most Basic Must Have WordPress Plugins for 2012

2012I have been on a WordPress Web site and blog creating frenzy lately. As part of this, I have been reading a whole lot about the plugins everyone thinks I must have. Of course, everyone has a different list and now that I have done my homework, have tried numerous plugins, and actually have the best ones running on my sites, I am now the expert. OK, I am not the expert, but I have found a set of WordPress plugins that every time I create a new site, I automatically install and consider to be my very most basic and fundamental set of WordPress plugins that I cannot imagine my site without. On most sites, I will have additional plugins, but these are my 7 must have plugins for 2012. I say 2012 because next year, this list will probably be different. Oh, and did I mention that they are all free? It’s good to know that some good things in life, like WordPress and these plugins, are still free. So, without further delay, here they are.
